Julia's approach to this work is defined by her ability to listen, care and connect. Respect, empathy, grit and smarts are assets she has sharpened as a result of her personal and professional experiences. Julia returned to Real Estate full time in 2016 after growing her skills in diverse fields. Her and her glorious partner Joel call a little place in South Portland home (just up the road from the Dairy Queen, Julia's first job) and enjoy endless outdoor adventures with their son Trygve (4), daughter Olina (2), and rescue pup Obi (8).
When she is not busy helping clients reach their goals or exploring Maine with her family, Julia serves on the Board of Directors for Birth Roots, a local non-profit that creates community and provides incredible support to parents of newborns and toddlers. Julia loves musicals, concerts, sports of all kinds, trying new food, exploring her family history, and indulging in the occasional British crime drama on PBS. Her academic and professional life has taken her various places, from working on Capital Hill in DC, and for a Portland-based market research firm, to following a full-ride assistantship opportunity at Seton Hall University for graduate school and a Fulbright teaching fellowship in Norway. Julia returned to the US (and luckily Maine) after her Fulbright year to teach international relations and political science and serve as Executive Director for the Maine Model UN Program at USM for four years. Julia worked in Academic Advising at a Maine community college and also spent time working for a UN-based NGO in New York.
All of this, coupled with 6 years she spent in Germany as a kid in the 90s, means she has a unique perspective that values inclusivity, equity and community. No matter where she's gone, Maine has always been her home and she is so grateful to be able to put down roots, raise her family here, and help others find or grow their own connection to Maine.
