A Few Minutes with a New Team at Advisors Living: Dave Costello & Scott Accorsini

May 31, 2022 - By Tom Palmer

BOSTON – This is one of a series featuring Advisors Living residential brokers in the Boston area.

Dave Costello and Scott Accorsini are Managing Directors of Advisors Living in the Back Bay, and they work as a team. They joined the company in fall of 2019.

Why do you work selling homes as a team?

Scott and I have worked together 10 years. We’re friends and enjoy working together. We have shared experience and shared clients.

The team dynamic is beneficial for coverage of our book of clients. We can do a lot more collectively than we could independently serving our current book of business.

Are customers more demanding today than in the past?

Our clients are high net worth and they have high expectations. We try to deliver the best service possible.

Generally, yes, they are more demanding than in the past. The ability to access information is greater than ever. Client buyers will be looking at their phone at 9 or 10 p.m. and see something of interest and text us or whoever their agent might be. Being available 24/7 is more the expectation. Also where the team dynamic is more beneficial is there is more work required from brokers in than in the past.

What communities and neighborhoods do you specialize in?

Downtown Boston and Metrowest.

The same.

How long have you been in the real estate business?

Over 20 years. Before, I was at CL Properties, which was acquired by Advisors Living.

Thirteen years. I started out as a real estate appraiser and then worked for CL for 10 years and then made the switch to Advisors Living.

What do you like about it your work?

I like working with people. I like the properties, I enjoy the transactions. I enjoy the entrepreneurial nature of the business. You have a lot of ownership about your own business.

The human interaction. I’d say the joy of somebody buying or selling their home and helping them through that process. Learning from the nuances of every transaction. There’s always more to learn and observe about every micro real estate market or the larger trends.

What did you do before real estate?

I graduated from Northeastern in 2001. I spent a year in high-tech corporate public relations before moving to real estate in 2002. I grew up in McLean, Virginia.

I did appraisals when I was first out of college. Prior to getting into real estate, I was in the golf industry, with Callaway Golf and worked at several private country clubs. I went to Coastal Carolina University, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I grew up in Hopkinton.

Where do you both live?

I live in West Newton.

What do you do for fun when you’re not showing houses?

I spend time with my wife and two children, going to their school and sporting events, and exploring the New England outdoors. We love Vermont and Maine.

Golfing and spending time with my wife and 2 ½-year-old daughter.   Things in real estate tend to be a little slower around the holidays, and I dislike the cold, so we break up the winter a little by traveling south.
